Robert is my cousin, a couple of years older than I.  He grew up in San Rafael, California, with his sister Suzannah.  When I was a kid living in San Jose, I used to go up there quite a bit for visits to their mansion on the hill.  It had a dimly lit tunnel under the house and hill in the back with trails and a playhouse.
I remember seeing him about 1959, but then lost track of him and his sister until 1992, when I learned he was living in Topeka, working as a writer.  He had married Lois, an ex-nun from Brooklyn, and they had a daughter, Emily.
In January, 2005, Emily was married, and I went up to Kansas City for the wedding.  It was the first time in over 40 years that I had seen Robert or his sister Suzanne, who came up from New Mexico.  We had a wonderful three day reunion in an iced-in motel.     100_0555.jpg (54684 bytes)

On this trip, there was only time to visit for breakfast with Bob (as he's now called) and Julie (as he calls her, harking back to her days as Sister Julie).

The trees were still bare in March, but he gave me some pictures he'd taken last fall.  Here's one.  The scanned version here doesn't do it justice.
