Kansas

By early Wednesday afternoon, I was in Wamego, KS, where I spent night at Gaylord Belton's. The next morning, I doubled back to have breakfast with my cousin Bob and his wife, then west again to the Brooks Motel in Norton. That's on US Highway 36--shortest route between Indianapolis and Denver. Nice road.
Norton is the home of the Gallery of Also-Rans, which features portraits of unsuccessful presidential candidates. I missed it because it's located in a bank that wasn't open early enough for me to get in. I had to get going early to visit Prairie Dog State Park, just west of town. The prairie dogs were up, but too far away for me to photograph them. Here's where one lives, though:

Very pretty country up there. On Thursday, I did some off-pavement exploring up to the point where Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado meet.
