I was glad to cross the Mississippi River late Tuesday afternoon and leave Arkansas behind. I headed south to Clarksdale to spend the night at a very fine motel for $45. The drive the next day was pretty all through the state. But I got lost several times in Oxford trying to find Faulkner's house. It was much easier to find Elvis's birthplace in Tupelo.
